San Diego Asian
Film Festival
To orchestrate the 2003 San Diego Asian Film Festival,
Oct. 3-5, 2003, Taiwanese American Foundation of San Diego (TAFSD)
and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Los Angeles are
co-sponsoring one of the excellent films, "Love at 7-11”.
The film director, Teng Yung-Shing and the producer, Wang Wei Ming
will be able to attend the festival. TAFSD will be hosting a reception
for Director Teng and Producer Wang on October 4th, 2003, Saturday,
2 PM, at the Taiwanese American Community Center (TACC). We will
also present his work, "Love at 7-11", led by a famous
singer-songwriter Huang Pin-yuan. In addition, the independent
filmmaker Sam Chen will join the reception to share his enthusiasm
about making film. The admission is free.
Teng is a veteran director of commercials active
in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. He has been famous for making celebrating
commercials for over a decade, and he has kept burning the fire
of his dream: to make full-length features. Love at 7-11 is his
debut as a feature film director.
The film, "Love at 7-11", is an adaptation
of two very well known Internet novels by Tsai Chin-heng: Raincoat
and Love at 7-11. These Internet novels were so popular that eventually
they appeared in book form and topped the best sellers list for
many months in Taiwan. Not long after that they also became runaway
hits in Mainland China.
Do you enjoy movies? Here is your opportunity
to share the experience with Director Teng, filmmaker Chen, and
Producer Wang in person. TACC is located on 7170 Convoy Court,
