TACC Post Activity Report (March 3, 2002):
The TACC calligraphy class is currently presenting their work at
the TACC gallery this month. On Sunday, March 3, 2002, the class
held a reception for the opening of the exhibition. Many people
attended the event and showed their support to the class. While
enjoying some teatime snacks prepared by the calligraphy class members,
the guests and the class were also having a good time discussing
the poetry and the different scripts. The most attention-grabbing
work is the one written by Mr. Chiu-Shan Chen, who wrote a poem
using his wife and his first names (image 1). The work certainly
makes everyone envy and jealous. Grace Lo and Stella Ting also use
the brush painting to portray the beauty of calligraphy. Sue Lin,
Catherine Shih, Anna Chen, Judy Chang, Frank Sun, Fang-Lian Yang
and Phoebe Shen also show their calligraphy works. Other works also
include the poems from the Tang dynasty (A.D. 618-907) and Taiwanese
proverbs. Calligraphy has been one of the most significant Asian
arts recognized by the world. Writing with brush is the best way
to present the beauty of Chinese characters. The calligraphy class
is one of the many classes provided by TACC to offer the community
a chance to learn about Asian culture. The exhibition will last
until March 31, 2002. TACC and the calligraphy class welcome everyone
to come by and have a look at their hard work.
