The Tsunah Foundation is offering a scholarship program for participants registering for the Eleventh Tsunah Culture Tour to be held in December 2011. This year 3-4 applicants will be provided with scholarships. Each recipient will receive a cash award of US$700.00 to offset the cost of airfare to Taiwan and the tour registration fee.
Selection of recipients will be based on: 1) demonstrated leadership and community service in the Taiwanese American community, and 2) financial need. To apply, a recommendation letter from a Taiwanese American community leader or another relevant individual and a one-page autobiographical statement that provides justification for financial need are required.
Scholarship recipients will be announced by the end of November. Upon completion of the tour, each recipient is required to write an essay or poem about the tour, addressing a topic of his or her choice. The essays/poems will be published on the Tsunah Foundation's web site: www.taiwancenter.com/tsunah. Scholarship checks will be mailed to the recipients upon receipt of their after-tour essays/poems.
